Mount SMT belt

Whether it is to replace the belt or install the belt on the new transmission, the following steps are recommended.

  1. Turn off the power, remove the protective cover, loosen the mounting bolts on the motor base, so that the motor can move back and forth.
  2. Move the motor so that the belt is relaxed enough to easily remove the belt. Never skid SMT belts with tools.
  3. Take off the old belt and check for abnormal wear. Excessive wear can mean problems with the design or maintenance of the transmission.

4, choose the right belt replacement.

5, clean SMT belt and pulley: the rag should be stained with a little non-volatile liquid wipe, do not soak in detergent or use detergent to scrub the belt, do not use sandpaper or sharp objects to scrape the belt. Belts must be kept dry before installation and use.

6, check whether the belt cracks or wear, the more simple way is to use the wheel groove measuring tool to check. If excessive wear occurs, the pulley must be replaced.

7, check whether the SMT pulley is in a plane.

8, check the rest of the transmission components, such as bearing and sleeve symmetry, durability and lubrication.

  1. For drives using multiple SMT belts, all belts must be replaced at once. If only one belt is replaced on multiple belt drives, the new belt may be properly relaxed, but the remaining old belt will be too loose, and most of the power may be carried by the new belt alone, resulting in premature damage to the new belt.

10, adjust the center distance of the transmission device, turn the driving wheel several times by hand, and use the belt tension measuring instrument to check whether the tension is appropriate.

  1. Tighten the assembly bolts of the motor according to the prescribed torque.
  2. Replace the protective cover.
  3. It is recommended to adopt trial operation procedure. This procedure starts the drive, runs under full load and then stops, checks and adjusts the tension to the recommended value. The operation of the belt under full load can make the belt fit the wheel groove perfectly. If it is possible to run the belt for 24 hours, it should be run for at least one hour. The test run procedure reduces the number of times the tension is re-adjusted later.
  4. During the test run, the operation should be closely monitored to see if there is abnormal vibration and listen carefully to whether there is abnormal noise. It is best to turn off the machine after running for a period of time and check the heat condition of the bearing and motor; If it feels too hot to the touch, the belt may be too tight, or the bearing is not symmetrical, or the lubrication is not correct.

15, for the synchronous belt, the relaxation during operation is very small, so it is generally not necessary to readjust the tension, but we still recommend starting the device and observing the performance, to see if there is abnormal vibration, listen carefully if there is abnormal noise. It is best to turn off the machine after running for a period of time and check the heat condition of the bearing and motor; If it feels too hot to the touch, the belt may be too tight, or the bearing is not symmetrical, or the lubrication is not correct.
